Scuba Diving on the Cape Peninsula

Kayaking :: Surfing :: Kite Surfing :: Paragliding :: Boating

:: Hiking :: Biking :: Riding :: Golfing :: Relaxing

Cape Town and the Western Cape The Western Cape is famous for its rich biodiversity and that biodiversity extends into the waters. Owing to two ocean currents meeting at Cape Point, the waters surrounding the Cape Peninsula are abundant with endemic species – many can only be seen in False Bay. These currents often wash warm water visitors into our waters, such as manta rays and whale sharks! The Cape waters boast numerous wrecks of historical significance, kelp forests where curious cowsharks roam, large painted boulders dancing with klipfish, triplefins and gobies.

Diving can be done in Cape Town’s coastal villages of Hout BayKommetjie, Simon's Town, Glencairn, Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay .  Deeper wrecks and reefs can be reached by boats and local diving operations offer this opportunity. For those with less experience, shark cage diving offers the brave a close look at great whites. For those looking for more, snorkelling and scuba diving, for the more experienced, bring you into the hidden world under the sea.
