The Lookout Deck arguably boasts one of the best views in the Western Cape. Sitting on the spectacular wooden deck, suspended over the water, you can watch the bustling harbour, moving boats of all description, frolicking Cape fur seals, local fishermen weighing in their catch of the day, the rise and fall of the tides, and beyond the harbour stunning views of the serene Chapman's Peak mountain pass. The tranquil surroundings and divine view lend themselves to the relaxed, upmarket feel of the restaurant.
Experience It
The extensive menu comprises of premier seafood, freshly caught line fish from the local fishermen, live Cape Rock Lobster, succulent LM prawns, plump and juicy Tiger Prawns, fresh steamed black mussels, as well as the finest cuts of local A-grade meat. There’s a great selection of appetizing salads, lighter snack baskets, wood-fired pizzas and hearty breakfasts.
The emphasis on the cuisine is freshness and the fish is caught and delivered fresh daily. The Lookout Deck has introduced a fresh, whole fish and seafood 'braai', available on selected days and depending on what can be harvested fresh from the sea. Come and select a whole plate size, Red Roman, Baby Cob or Red Stumpnose and watch as the Chef prepares it to perfection on the open grill.
Japan meets Hout Bay with a new sushi bar on the deck. Wasabi greets shasimi with Maki & California rolls & more on the side! The Champagne & Oyster Bar continues to draw cheers with champagne accompanying chucked live oysters.
The restaurant has been tastefully designed to make you feel as though you have just come off the beach into your holiday house, designed in such a way that diners can choose between the casual wooden deck area with bench tables, outdoor heaters and large glass window panels, which provide additional comfort from the cool sea breezes. For the more modern up market feel, enjoy dining inside with comfortable upholstered chairs and well appointed tables with linen and overlays.
The Lookout Deck in Hout Bay also has a comfortable bar area with high tables and stools, a large flat screen TV where all the sporting events can be viewed.
