Carols by CandlelightThis annual event will be held on Saturday the 10 December 2011 in aid of St Luke’s Hospice, False Bay. The evening is a fun-filled family affair with a celebration of not only the festive season but the joy of living and the joy of giving.

Carols by Candlelight at Noordhoek Farm Village

Christmas Market:

Xmas Decorations From Ndoro This year there will be a Christmas Market at Noordhoek Farm Village, featuring some fabulous products for Christmas – from gifts to ornaments. Our retail shops will not be open but you can find their best sellers at the market. Interested crafters can contact Theo for table bookings at the market. Christmas market starts at 4pm.

Gift of Giving:

ARISE - children receiving their giftsLast year was the first time we activated our Gift of Giving programme and asked the children to bring a gift for a child less fortunate than themselves. The gifts were distributed by St Peter’s church to ARISE- a ministry to vulnerable children in Cape Town – most of these children are in crisis because of abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, parents in prison, parents who are sick or unemployed or children on drugs.More…

The Kids Zone:

Letters to Santa PostboxAs always Noordhoek Farm Village likes to entertain our little people and this year we will invite the children to bring their letters to Santa and post them in the Big Red Postbox which is bound for the North Pole. Santa’s helpers will be present to sprinkle the letters with fairy dust and stamp the letters. Please address all letters to Father Christmas and put your parents names on the back of the envelope so Santa Claus knows where you live. We will have a table available for writing letters to Santa. Santa’s helpers will be assisting handing out goodie bags to the children after they have posted their letters.

Masi Choir:

Members of the Masi Choir Noordhoek Farm Village is delighted to welcome the Masiphumelele choir back this year – they were a popular addition to the programme last year and they are looking forward to participating again at Carols By Candlelight this year – the choir is lead by HAPPY who works at Noordhoek Farm Village.

Tree of Remembrance:

Ribbons on a Tree of Remembrance Although this important part of the evening has always taken place at Carols by Candlelight, the importance of the remembrance ceremony has been lost in all the activity. We encourage honouring the memory of a loved one by donating R30 for a ribbon inscribed with your loved ones name which will be draped on the Tree of Remembrance on the evening of Carols By Candlelight. You can PRE-ORDER your ribbon from St Luke’s Hospice. Tel  021 782 7696. The tree will be lit up as a Tree of Lights on the evening.

St Luke’s Hospice Christmas Raffle:

Christmas Cake For only R5 it is worth taking a raffle ticket or 2 and stand the chance to win a Christmas Cake donated by the SA Cake Decorators Guild. Other prizes include a quilt and crocheted blanket, vouchers for Blue Water Cafe and a Christmas Hamper. Tickets are available from the St Luke’s Hospice charity shop in Fish Hoek or from the Noordhoek Tourism office at Noordhoek Farm Village.

South African Navy Band:

South African Navy Band Internationally acclaimed – this is the premier band of the South African National Defence Force. The 47 members of the band have performed internationally and locally and are extremely versatile and can divide into concert groups, Marimba Ensembles, chamber groups, stage band, dance band or parade band! They mostly play at ceremonies which are not public occasions so it is an honour once again to welcome Cmdr Kenny Leibbrandt and the South African Navy Band to Noordhoek.

About St Lukes Hospice:

They are a band of approximately 50 volunteer workers, with a qualified Nursing Sister and a professional social worker who form the basic structure of the local False Bay Branch.

St Lukes strategy is to provide facilities and services to respond to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of individuals and their families, having an illness which is no longer responding to curative treatment and having a short life expectancy; and to demonstrate, teach and promote values, skills and knowledge to this end.

Hospice is NOT a place of death but a professional and successful organization which aims to provide palliative and respite care for patients – usually in their own homes. Their volunteer caregivers, together with their Nursing Sister, visit patients which gives them time to form a relationship of trust with the St Luke’s Team. This helps both the patient and their family members to prepare for the ultimate death of a terminally ill person.

In order to raise funds St Luke’s False Bay operates a shop situated inRecreation Roadin Fish Hoek which is manned by unpaid volunteer workers. They accept secondhand goods (in good condition) for re-sale. Shop telephone no is (021) 782 4992 and is open Monday-Friday from 10am – 4pm and from 9am – 12.30pm on Saturdays.

Please contact St Luke’s False Bay office which is located in theFalse BayHospitalgrounds – open from 9am – 12.30 pm on weekdays. Tel (021) 782 7696 for all information.
