Glencairn Community Family Day

Why not visit our ‘hood this weekend? The Glencairn Strip is hosting a community family day from 10am until late on Saturday the 17th December 2011. Residents and visitors are invited to explore the beautiful Glencairn valley and join in a Heritage walk around the neighbour…hood. (Don’t miss the children’s’ art project with local artist Donald Barnett). Arts and crafts will be on sale at the market and will include homemade fudge, wire works and hand appliquéd African Crafts! You can also shop around at Café Collectables for treasure. One of the day’s highlights is sure to be the giant Zorba pool.

Local artists, crafters, authors, musicians are welcome to join in the day – trading is free but you do need to supply your own table, shade and talent. Please call 021 782 0314/5 for more information to trade your talents on the Glencairn strip! You’re not likely to go hungry or thirsty either. You are more than welcome to bring a picnic but we think you’ll want to sample some of the delicious food on sale. Joan’s Home bakes will be available at the Viper Lounge along with a bike display (and some fresh Columbian coffee) The Bay Cafe will have a gourmet burger stand and Highlander Hardware will be selling delicious boerie rolls & crafts – or tuck into a feast with Naz’s Indian cuisine. Refreshments available from the Glen Pub with a beer garden on the lawn. The day’s events will round off with Jeff and Julie leading Christmas Carols on the Bay Cafe Deck with free lucky packets to the children who sing and bring a small present for Red Hill Children (and bubbly for the adults!). Please bring your own candles. A fire dancing display will enthral and entertain once it gets dark!

This is a community day to meet the neighbours and local businesses of Glencairn and everyone is invited and welcome. Contact 021 782 0314 for more details.
