Road Closures – Cape Peninsula Marathon 16 Feb 2014

The Cape Peninsula Marathon and Half Marathon take place on SUNDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2014.

The marathon will start in Main Road, Green Point, while the half marathon will start at the Bergvliet Sports Club, in Bergvliet.
Both routes take runners along the Main Road, through to the finish at the Naval Sports Grounds in Simon’s Town.

Start times:

  • 42.2km: 5:15am (Greenpoint Main Rd, via CBD, Victoria Road to Simon’s Town)
  • 21.1km: 7am (Bergvliet Sports Club – Simon’s Town)

The Peninsula is always a popular event with local runners, as it is an official qualifier for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades, many runners use it both to qualify and as their long training run.

Motorists to be courteous and try to avoid using Victoria Road//Main Road
Runners to adhere to the directions of Traffic Officers and Marshals at all times.
Motorists travelling to Fish Hoek area will not be allowed to use the Main Road from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay. Use the alternative route of Boyes Drive or Ou Kaapse Weg or take the train!

Main & Atlantic Rd, Muizenberg:  07h00 -11h00.  Residents Only.
Detour via Boyes Drive or Ou Kaapse Weg

Main Rd at Fish Hoek Circle: 07h00 – 11h00
Detour via Kommetjie Rd, Glencairn Express Way

Main Rd & Glencairn Express Way: 07h00 – 11h00
Detour via Glencairn Expressway, Kommetjie Rd

Queens Str (Main) & Runciman Drive (boulders end): 07h30 -11h30
Detour via Runciman Drive
