Cafe Roux Sessions : Noordhoek
Cafe Roux sessions started with in-house resident band Me and Mr Brown playing a few gigs on a Sunday afternoon after lunch to wind down the weekend. This has evolved to live music every Sunday and a vast line-up of South African talent on the small intimate stage during the week and some weekend nights. The Cape Farmhouse in Scarborough reopened their doors in November 2013 and the signatory Saturday afternoon Farmhouse Rocks events take place about twice a month in a wonderful relaxed setting, that’s great for the whole family. Bringing local talent to the tip of Africa and having a lot of fun doing it! March sees Jack Mantis on 8 March 2014 and Boulevard Blues on 22 March 2014 hit the Farmhouse Stage.

The Lookout Deck: Hout Bay
The Lookout Deck has one of the best locations in the Cape – a large wooden deck overlooking Hout Bay Harbour. They have fabulous monthly specials and yes some fantastic live music – mostly over the weekends – just when you are ready to let off steam after a week or to wind down the weekend. Live gigs on the deck are usually Friday evening, Saturday afternoons or Sunday evenings and feature some get up and boogie bands and some acoustic and some jazz. This popular pizzeria is a warm, friendly yet casual atmosphere with a live music programme that offers frequent live entertainment by locals such as Dave Gommersal and Shelley& Alan, amongst others. Music gigs often take place on a Tuesday evening but weekend tunes are not uncommon! Cafe Pescado really is that good food, good wine, good entertainment, good friends vibe.

The Brass Bell: Kalk Bay
Food, fun, sea and sun is part of the motto of the Brass Bell – a Cape Town institution. This long standing restaurant does more than just serve up cold beer and hot food… it’s also a premier venue for live entertainment – mostly taking place on their bikini deck. The Bikini Deck stage plays host to some of South Africa’s best up and coming bands, and has over the years seen the likes of Johnny Clegg, Wendy Oldfield, Taxi Violence, Nomadic Orchestra, and Arno Carstens take the stage to enthusiastic crowds.

Polana: Kalk Bay
Polana is situated on the rocks at Kalk Bay Harbour and is a cocktail lounge with comfy leather couches a few metres from crashing waves! It’s a happening vibrant venue where live music and late nights are a norm. Most Fridays a band will transform the venue into a happening night club and Sundays usually has Sunday jazz and Adamu from 9pm or a mellow Sunday evening session.
