Noordhoek Farm Village is the host of an annual potjiekos competition on Heritage Day (Wednesday 24 September 2014) .
10 teams compete in a passionate cook-off on the Village Green at Noordhoek Farm Village. The fires are ready for the teams to start their preparation from 10am and potjies must be ready for judging at 15h30.
Teams compete for honour and the title and most teams are returning competitors. Each team must be self-sufficient and provide their own potjies, ingredients and displays! Entries have closed for competitors.
It’s a fun, family day and visitors can join in the spirit of the competition by dressing up in Heritage Day gear and enjoying the smells, sounds and vibe of the community. R30 gets you an eco-friendly container with some rice and you can go out and ask for a taster from the potjie of your choice. Proceeds go to a selected beneficiary.
2014 proceeds are to set up a Soup Garden at the Opendoor NPO in Ocean View. The restaurants at Noordhoek Farm Village will provide additional potjies for sale.
The Judges:
They are sure to have a tough time deciding on a winner but they are sure to taste some excellent cuisine!

- Sam Linsell (Food stylist, food photographer, cookbook author of Drizzle and Dip)
- Bernadette le Roux (Food writer & stylist, cookbook author of Prickly Pears & Pomegranates & Roots, shoots & Leaves)
