eMzantsi Carnival – 1 Dec 2012

The annual eMzantsi Carnival will take place on Saturday 1 Dec 2012, with a difference. This will be a celebration of 8 years of eMzantsi community-building but there is no annual parade for 2012.
Time: 10am – 3pm
Venue:  On the green at the eMzantsi office at Sunnyacres Centre (corner of Lekkerwater & Kommetjie Road)
Theme: “Family Tree”
Bring: Blankets, shade, picnics and chill out and celebrate the eMzantsi Family.

10h00: mini-parade around the perimeter of the park, including children from this year’s eMzantsi primary schools twinning programme and the eMzantsi Bloco carnival band
11h00: Jungle Theatre show ‘Metamorphosis’
12h00-15h00:  eMzantsi Talent music and dance stage show

There will also be: free mask-making workshops for children with our mapiko crew, facepainting, food and craft stalls and more.

(We will also be celebrating that our mapiko crew are busy building floats for both the Adderley St ‘Switching on of the Lights’ parade on 2 Dec and will again be employed at for the Cape Town Carnival on 16 March, and that our UNESCO apprentices just completed their first order. Viva job creation and sustainability viva!)

Reminder that there will NOT be a parade this year for the 8th eMzantsi Carnival.

If you are interested in bringing a group to parade or take part in the stage performance, please email ops manager Cindy ASAP on info@emzantsi.org.za
