Listen to the Thokozani Youth choir and if you are even vaguely impressed then imagine seeing them perform in the Cape Town City Hall and book your ticket now!

If a blind person had been sat in front of the Thokozani Youth Choir the day I sat in a rehearsal, bar the possible language barrier, they would have never guess that they were watching a group of youths who had been given the opportunity to become part of a music project to keep them out of mischief after the school day ended.
I listened, astounded as these kids recited their Isicathamiya (a traditional form of music) in perfect harmony. As for sitting in a dance rehearsal at Hangberg Township, if I had not taken into account the 5 minute drive which lead us into the centre of the township amongst rows of tin shacks overlooking the harbour, I could have been sat in a Youth Dance Academy in London,  as I watched in amazement as the 20+ children rehearsed their routine in perfect synchronisation and I imagined how these gifted kids, especially the youngest who could have been no older than 8 easily had the talent to dance  in the nutcracker at Covent Garden.

These are just two examples of Cape Town’s finest township talent  who will all be under  one roof in just under seven weeks in the Iconic Cape Town City Hall all in the name of Uthando, an event which you will want to be seen at. Uthando (Love) South Africa is a unique and innovative Non Profit and Fair Trade in Tourism accredited company which offers forms of assistance for community development projects based around Cape Town and further afield in South Africa.

Clipboard02On the 6th September Uthando is hosting an extraordinary, inspiring and enormously entertaining evening filled with music, dance and choral singing in the Cape Town City Hall – one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in the Western Cape hosted by the hilarious local comedian Siv Ngesi.
With the Gugulethu tenors opening the show, the rest of line-up is made up from local acts in and around Cape Town, the Thokozani Youth Choir, the Zama Dance School dancers, Jazz band from the Kronendal Music Academy and many more who throughout the evening will be performing alongside 10 exhibiting projects.

This celebration of township excellence is a fundraiser for those who perform and have had attendees singing its praises since the fundraiser was launched 3 years ago, with the purchase of your ticketing proceeds going directly to Uthando.
