Cape Point Funicular closed for maintenance

Please take note of the scheduled maintenance on the Flying Dutchman Funicular at Cape Point from 8th to the 12th of February.

Please keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and notifications in the event that we need to extend this maintenance period.

The planned maintenance is in line with Health and Safety regulations, where the funicular rope needs to be replaced after a certain period, as part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety at Cape Point, we will be changing the rope on the dates aforementioned.

Please note that the funicular will not be operating over the maintenance period, however a shuttle service will operate during the planned downtime as an alternative form of transport.

You can purchase tickets in the same way you would the funicular tickets, costs outlined below:

  • Adult return ticket: R50
  • Adult one-way ticket: R40
  • Scholar*/Pensioner** return ticket: R20
  • Scholar*/Pensioner** single ticket: R15
  • *scholar aged 6-16 (under 6 rides free)  &  **Pensioner aged 60+ – ID required
