Don’t wait – book your great white shark cage diving now!
As the season’s change, we see a change in marine activity. On the Cape Point Route this normally occurs around mid-April. The migratory fish and sharks leave the close shoreline of False Bay – where they tend to congregate during the summer months. The Great White Sharks of False Bay move to Seal Island where they feed on the young Cape Fur Seals.
In the Chinese Calendar 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit – in False Bay it looks like it is the Year of the Shark! Shark activity has definitely begun at Seal Island for 2011. And what’s more the season has been complimented by common dolphins playing in the bay.
The excellent news for visitors is that Great White Shark Cage Diving and Viewing is available from Simon’s Town – just 45 minutes from Cape Town City Centre! There are two tours daily- morning and afternoon so a shark cage dive can easily be combined with a visit to Cape Point Nature Reserve or another fabulous activity on the Cape Point Route.
In Simon’s Town the shark cage diving tours take a maximum of 12 people with 4 guides on board – this means it is a high quality trip and you will have a longer cage dive (20 – 30 minutes) as well as receiving an educational and informational experience.
Seal Island in False Bay is famous world wide for shark breaching – which happens most frequently during May, June, July and August. For those not in the know – this is where the term Flying White Sharks comes from as these marine animals quite literally leap out of the water like a torpedo – a sight to behold!
Shark Cage Diving & Viewing Trips take place from NOW until mid –September . Don’t delay book now to reserve a spot for one of the greatest spectacles on earth. These trips are extremely popular and get booked out early in the season.
