Wonderful article and stunning images sent to us by Mandy Croucamp. Mandy spent a weekend in Cape Point Nature Reserve with friends… and if this isn’t enough to entice you to visit Cape Point, I doubt anything will!
Cape Point Nature Reserve in Table Mountain National Park is a great place to stay for a weekend break. We chose to base ourselves at the very comfortable and affordable SanParks Duiker Cottage situated at the north western side of the park as it links to a number of key roads and hiking or walking trails.
The weather was especially kind to us “book clubbers” and we were able to fully enjoy 4 exceptional walks. As most of us have climbed Cape Point we decided to try slightly lesser known walks and views.
The first walk was from Duiker Cottage to the gorgoeous Olifantsbos Point where we were treated to a typical Cape Atlantic sunset.
We arose early to watch the sun rise over False Bay arriving at Bordjiesfrif, Black Rocks and Venus Pool situated on the South Eastern side of the park.
After a delicious breakfast back at our cottage we set off to walk the Hoek van Bobejaan followed by a lighter walk to the magnificent Dias Beach and cliffs – an easy board-walk from the main Cape Point parking area. A truly unforgettable weekend experience!
