“Change is as good as a holiday” so they say. That’s not to say change is the same as lying on a beach, it’s more about something different from the norm. It’s about being inspired and getting rid of old and welcoming the new. You don’t want to do the same thing all the time and get bored! Although a holiday is temporary and usually over much too quickly, it allows a person to rest and reflect – use fresh eyes on issues, priorities and perspectives and the break is enough to revive the spirit.
Cape Point Route has been inspired by moving our offices and the pleasant novelty of our new home at Noordhoek Farm Village. Despite knowing the village for many years, things feel different and new now that we work here and are part of the village people family. We have discovered bottomless coffee at the Foodbarn Deli, funky gift options in the shops, the friendly sushi chef (go and meet Andy & Lily who are from Beijing and are the masters behind Village Sushi), great pub atmosphere at the Toad in the Village & massages at Caroline’s Health & Beauty. We receive friendly greetings from unexpected sources. We’re getting to know locals, regulars and even their dogs and their cars. We haven’t got rid of the old, but we welcome the new. We haven’t changed what we do, we’re just more excited again!
Here are some ‘new’ tours (to us) – that we have discovered and think you or your friends might be interested in some of the additions to the fabulous day tours we already have on offer.
Cape Town Beer Tour:
This tour is super cool and a lot of fun. Despite Cape Town’s long history of beer, we are now at the centre of a craft beer revolution and Cape Town can arguably be considered the beer capital of South Africa. On this half day tour you will discover some of the history and origins of beer in the Cape & go on a brewery tour to learn the beer making process. Then you will compare commercial beer to craft beer (YES- by tasting!) and there is even a beer and food pairing! Book Now
Cape Town Tunnel Tour:
This fascinating tour explores the natural and cultural history of Cape Town from a new perspective… how and why Cape Town was founded & settled due to her water resources & looks towards the sustainability of the city based on water. You start with a surface walk, then kit up and climb down the manhole for the underground tunnel walk down the ‘riverbed’ of what was the Varsche River. Book Now
Cape Town Jazz Safari:
Cape Town is a musical city and on this evening tour we travel inside the jazz music of Cape Town by visiting local jazz musicians in their homes. Part One of the tour is music, conversation & dinner with real jazz musicians and Part Two involves either a 2nd home visit or a late night set at a Cape Town Jazz Venue. Can you feel the music? Book Now.
We also have some ‘new’ places to stay on the Cape Point Route – some gorgeous properties and fabulous hosts that will make a stay in the South Peninsula of Cape Town a holiday to remember. We still love our ‘old and familiar’ places but very exciting to have some lovely new places to offer our visitors.
