Kommetjie, which means “Little Bowl” is named after the circular bowl-like sea basin ”Die Kom” which forms the heart of this quiet rustic seaside village. Kommetjie is not a drive- through kind of place; it’s a stop and experience it town.

Kommetjie itself is known for being one of Cape Town’s surfing & kite surfing hot spots and has world class windsurfing with one of the biggest drops in the Cape Peninsula. Kommetjie is the place where Crayfish (Cape Rock Lobster) is King and it is also famed as a great bird watching area. If you’re interested in legends (or even just sensational views) then get to the top of South Africa's tallest cast iron lighthouse - the Slangkoppunt Lighthouse. Take a tour and climb to the top to see Cape Point Nature Reserve and Hout Bay .

Along Kommetjie road, you will notice camels at Imhoff Farm - you can ride them, or just stop for tea, country produce and a variety of crafts. Kids can enjoy the farmyard and snake park. Look out for Masiphumelele where you experience an interactive walk- in township tour  and Ocean View on the opposite side of the road, which also offers insightful walking tours of the fishing community that lives there.

Masiphumelele:
The peaceful settlement of Masiphumelele, home to a largely Xhosa speaking community, offers informative Township Tours with visits to some of the community projects in the area. Overnight stays are also offered. 

Ocean View:
This is a traditional fishing community with a captivating history of relocation and seafarer tales. This animated, energetic populace will welcome you on a walking tour or invite you to dine with them on traditional dishes and karaoke. You may even experience the local Cape Minstrel troupe.

Sunset Beach:
An excellent spot for a stroll and for watching the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.

Long Beach:
Stretching from Kommetjie to Noordhoek is a surfing paradise.  Endless beach walks at sunrise or sunset or simply hanging out for sundowners. Watch marine bird life or spring into action with kite surfing or horseriding. And do look out for the Cape Clawless Otter.

Slangkoppunt Lighthouse:
South Africa's tallest cast iron lighthouse offers a fascinating tour and panoramic views.

Imhoff Farm:
This historic Cape Dutch farm dating back to 1795 offers you the opportunity to enjoy a meal at the restaurant overlooking Long Beach and the wetlands, sample organic cheeses, browse the shops, visit the snake park or even ride a camel!

Rubbi Chapel:
This chapel was built by Italian craftsmen in 1948 as a memorial to Joseph Rubbi, an early inhabitant of the area.

Baboon Walks
Walk with resident baboon troops in their natural environment.

Soetwater Recreational Area:
This is a hot spot for marine coastal birding. The Middens Traditional Seafood Boma offers a unique dining experience and guided tours.
