Adventure :: Hiking :: Romantic :: Family

The Cape Peninsula is Cape Town’s “Playground of the Cape” offering activities for the whole family to enjoy. In the kingdom of the Cape Point Route – there is something for every kid – young and old! Noordhoek Farm Village & Imhoff Farm have great kids’ areas and many restaurants are child friendly. Beaches abound, with an option to swim with the penguins at Boulders Beach.  Relax at Fish Hoek Galley  while the kids play in the safe beach of Fish Hoek. Also in Simon’s Town is the Scratch Patch, or visit the World of Birds in Hout Bay and Cape Point Ostrich Farm near Cape Point or climb to the top of South Africa’s tallest cast iron lighthouse.

More on Noordhoek
  we recommend it...

 Imhoff Farm:
Imhoff Farm is the perfect venue for the family with plenty of entertainment for all. The kids just love to play on the many jungle gyms, feed the animals in the farmyard and have their faces painted.  Visit the snake park or enjoy a camel or horse ride.

Noordhoek Farm Village:
The charming character of this small village set amongst oak trees makes an ideal venue for a relaxing afternoon with children.  Parents can enjoy a meal or wander around the interesting shops while the kids roar around the playground.

Climb a Lighthouse:
Calling all kids over the age of 10 to climb up the tallest cast iron lighthouse in South Africa!  It is worth the climb for the interesting facts, legends and panoramic views at the top. A great children’s activity!

Learn to Surf:
Muizenberg Beach, a 36km stretch of beach, has perfect waves for the inexperienced surfer.  For the parents, enjoy some time off with a stroll along Muizenberg Historical Mile.

Monkey Jungle:
Visiting Africa’s largest bird park, World of Birds, in Hout Bay is a must for children!  The kids will love the Monkey Jungle where they can make friends with the inquisitive little Squirrel Monkeys.

Beaches for Kids:
Cape Town is known for its beaches and all along the coastline of the Cape Point Route, you will find safe beaches and tidal pools which have great things to do with kids. Some of the most popular child friendly beaches are: Boulders Beach, St James, Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, Kalk Bay and Glencairn.

Swim with Penguins:
The African Penguins invite all kids to come and swim with them at Boulders Beach. This secluded kids haven and safe swimming beach is the place the Penguins call home. This activity is a truly once in a life time opportunity!

Scratch Patch:
Visit the world-famous Scratch Patch in Simon’s Town. Have fun filling a small bag with beautiful tumble-polished gemstones that literally cover the floor! Also visit the Mineral World shop and tour the Topstones factory!

Cape Point Ostrich Farm:
Here kids will learn more about the life of the ostriches, all the way from the egg right up to the adult ostrich.  During the breeding season the kids will be able to experience the hatching of an ostrich chick.

Cape Point:
Kids love to climb the stairs or catch a funicular ride to the light house at Cape Point. They can tick off lists of animals in the Cape of Good Hope Reserve. Be sure not to miss kid friendly and educational Cape Point Ostrich Farm at the entrance to the reserve.
