Adventure ... experience it

You can either watch it on TV or you can experience it for yourself. The choice to immerse yourself in Cape Town’s playground is easy, affordable and accessible for novice adventure seekers or hard core adrenalin addicts. With dramatic mountain ranges, and long ocean fronts, the Cape Point Route has the stuff that you see in the movies. So couch potatoes keep watching the screen and everyone else can come and play – the possibilities for individuals or groups are endless.

The Cape Point  Route has watery pursuits above the water like kayaking, surfing, boating and fishing to plunging into the aquatic depths below the surface with scuba diving and snorkelling. For land lovers go walking, hiking or golfing and if the feet don’t want to take you then get the leg action pumping with mountain and road biking or riding of horses or camels. So take the coastal challenge and get moving, there is lots to do…after all the Cape Point Route is worth more than a one night stand and the action in this corner of Cape Town beats National Geographic - even on a plasma screen!

  we recommend it...

Kayaking:
Sea kayaking around Cape Town’s most beautiful bays and beaches is a local thing to do. Previous experience in this adventure activity is not necessary as the operators will teach you all you need to know and the kayaks are safe and stable. Some of the Cape Town bays you can access by kayak include Hout Bay, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Simon's Town, Glencairn, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg.

Surfing:
Hire a surfboard and a wet suit and go surfing! Take the plunge and get a dose of this fun activity. Muizenberg Beach known for its gentle sloping white beach and consistent waves making it conducive for surf lessons but there are loads of hot surf spots all around the Cape Peninsula.

Diving:
Scuba Diving Cape Town’s coastal villages of Hout Bay, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Simon's Town, Glencairn, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg offers fascinating adventure experiences. Diving activities include shipwrecks, huge kelp forests, coral gardens and deep reefs and the scope is endless for beginners or advanced divers.

Boating:
Cape Town has 3 natural harbours on the Cape Point Route and boats head off in various directions. Experience a water adventure on one of numerous boating activities which go from Simon’s Town, Kalk Bay and Hout Bay . Trips include Seal Island in False Bay and the fur seals at Duiker Island off Hout Bay, Cape Point trips to view the dramatic point from the water and of course whale watching cruises which are best during the whale season between August and November. Nothing beats a boat trip with an ocean breeze adventure on the water in Cape Town.

Fishing:
Experience the diverse activity offerings of the Atlantic Ocean and the warmer False Bay waters by participating in the exciting adventure discipline of Deep Sea Fishing in Cape Town. Qualified and experienced skippers and crew will make fishing a memorable Cape Town excursion. This is your chance to bag a big one!

Hiking:
For land lovers that visit Cape Town, hiking is one of the most popular activities to get the best views of the scenic beauty without the crowds. Discover the finest hiking trails, with varying degrees of difficulty, learn more about the fynbos, birdlife and ecosphere as you immerse yourself in a truly Capetonian pastime. We recommend hiking Kalk Bay, Muizenberg, Silvermine, Chapman's Peak or in Cape Point Nature Reserve itself  and advise going with a qualified mountain guide

Biking:
Hop on a bicycle and do it on wheels. Road or mountain bike the entire Cape Point Route (or part thereof) with the wind in your hair, mountains on one side and sea on the other. It’s a groovy thing to do. Get a great work out as you adventure through Cape Town scenery on a bicycle. We suggest visiting the Cape Point Route for some of the major cycling events that take place including the well known Pick 'n Pay Argus Cycle Tour held in March every year - the majority of the race is round the Cape Point Route.

Riding:
Cape Town and the Cape region have many horse trails so take time out to experience a horseback riding adventure on the beach or mountain path. Whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner wanting to try a new sporting adventure, there are horses and instructors that will take you on rides all around the Cape. One of the most popular excursions is horse riding on Noordhoek Beach. Try riding a camel for a novel activity on the Cape Point Route.

Golfing:
Golfing in Cape Town can easily be linked to many of the Cape Point Route’s attractions and activities. The Cape Point Route has beautiful parkland golf courses with both mountain and sea views. Golfing on one of these courses is a Cape Town must for any golf lover - regardless of your skill level.
